Proclamation
“WhatChaReadin’? Wednesdays”
Whereas, current research has identified a causal relationship between an increase in reading frequency and a subsequent increase in reading comprehension; and
Whereas, students will read what they want to read when given the resourcesand the option to choose; and
Whereas, accountability and sharing one's reading experiences with others leads to better understanding and a stronger motivation to read more; and
Whereas, all teaching and learning involves reading;
Now, Therefore, the School Board of St. Lucie County, School Board Chairperson, Carol A. Hilson, and Superintendent of Schools, Michael Lannon, hereby proclaim and announce observance of, the first Wednesday of October, 2009, and subsequent Wednesdays throughout the 2009-2010 school year, as
“WhatChaReadin’? Wednesdays”
Adopted with a quorum present and voting this October, 2009.
